“So you say you have planted a tracking device on him?”
“Yes. Several, in fact, in case he drops one or two.”
“And how does that help get the job done?”
“We will receive electronic notification as soon as he leaves the hotel, and that will automatically activate this equipment.”
“Isn’t everything a bit far away?”
“Not at all. The camera has extraordinary zoom capabilities and will record everything.”
“And the rest of the equipment?”
“I assure you, the hotel entrance is well within range.”
“Won’t the flower get in the way?”
“Sir, a mere flower cannot stop a bullet.”

“How much longer do we have to climb?”
“No one knows. Stop talking. Keep climbing.”
“The hunters are going to catch up with us.”
“If you keep wasting breath on needless talk, they will.”
“Can I use some accelerator potion?”
“No! Not for these Endless Stairs. Might need it more later. For now, just shut up!”
“But…”
“Aren’t you hearing me? The more we talk, the slower we climb, the greater the chances the hunters will catch up with us and the lower our chances of reaching the Gate. So, d’you want stop and chat or d’you want to climb?”

With last week’s picture, I decided to try something different from my usual stuff. I’m not too pleased with the result. Email me your receipts for a refund 🙂
Sorry I was unable to read your stories last week and also some from the week before 😦
About Friday Fictioneers
Friday Fictioneers is a group that works as follows:
Every week you get a picture.
Prompted by that picture, you write a piece of fiction that is 100 words long (or as close as you can get).
You add a link to your story on the Fictioneers page, and read the varied and awesome stories by the other Friday Fictioneers.
Feel free to join us! Everyone is welcome.
I love love your story for today! I did not see the bullet coming! So are the shooters watching him from outside the window? How will they shoot if he has left the room? Or did I not get it :-p Great suspense and great buildup to the final sentence. Nice!
I also love your story from last week so don’t worry I will keep my receipt 🙂 it is clear and straightforward and I love the twist with endless stairs, climbing with determination and yet not knowing how close the Hunter is or how far to get to the end of the stairs… Nice!
Hello Winter,
The shooters are in a room and the target will be far away in the street, but the equipment will take care of such minor details as distance etc 🙂
(I suspect my comments on your blog get marked as Spam 😦 )
Thanks for reading and for your encouraging comments 🙂
oh they are in the building… Makes sense now! Very nice! I have actually never received any comments… So yes I will check my spam folder… 🙂
Great stories Abraham. The second one I liked in partucular. The mystics are great in it.
I liked both of these. In the first one, the lily actually makes a great camouflage for a gun, so it’s even better.
Thanks.
I wanted to include that but ran out of words 🙂
A flower versus a bullet? I will take the bullet to succeed. Very good additions Abraham.
I wanted to read more about these people and what they were up to, although the story seemed complete. Good job.
There is no reason at all for you NOT to be pleased with your endless stairs. I liked that dialogue very much! 🙂
Thank you for visiting my piece on ‘The Stair’. One hundred word stories leave much to the imagination. And I think in leaving out the details helps us to think. Seemingly endless stairs can leave one breathless…if they can stop talking!
I will read the Lily now. I wanted to write my piece before reading other pieces.
Ah, I am a James Bond fan and that is what this piece reminds me of. 🙂
I’ll be posting my Lily piece in a few moments. Cheers.
Nice to have you back, Abraham. I enjoyed both stories, but the second one was my favorite. I like the accelerator potion and the Endless Stairs.

I liked your story from last week a lot – I think all-dialogue stories are very hard to do but great fun to read…! The most important thing for this week’s one was…is there tension? Yes, the tension was growing, so was good!
Both excellent uses of dialogue to paint the picture. Awesome.
Doesn’t get any better than this, Abraham. Taut narrative urgency and strong impact with the ending! Excellent.
Great plot. Love the conversation and the punch at the end
Loved both stories – well done.
Dear Abraham,
Imaginative stories. “A mere flower won’t stop a bullet.” Very nice. 😀
Shalom,
Rochelle
Glad you enjoyed 🙂
This is really smart, makes me want to know more!
Two excellent pieces.
Well done.
it’s great that you tried to catch up, really loved both stories ^^
Two nice pieces of dialogue. I particularly liked the last sentence from the staircase story.
Enjoyed this weeks story as I did last week’s.
Both were excellent, but, of course, I especially loved the sci-fi (in my opinion) on the second one.

Great take on this week’s prompt. I love the suspense
Equipped: This was terrific. Every detail, perfect. And that last line. Very intense.
Isn’t technology wonderful? It makes life easier for even the hit men.
Yup! Technology rules! 😀
The bullet did hit its mark.. ! nice story
Loved both of these Abraham. The attitude of the last line in ‘Equipped’ is so withering – fantastic.
And well done for trying something different with ‘Endless.’ I really enjoyed it. The bit that stood out for me was, ‘“Can I use some accelerator potion?”
“No! Not for these Endless Stairs….’ – as if anyone doesn’t know it would be a complete waste.
I am glad you enjoyed them 🙂
I enjoyed both stories. This week is very original for this photo prompt.
Equipped is a tight story except for the part where the flower will not stop a bullet. From a pure marksman’s POV, the flower would have to be moved because it will deflect the bullet at the outset of its trajectory and ruin the shot.
Shame on me for being the buzz kill, but it seemed relevant.
Aloha,
Doug
I hoped I had gotten away with that, but in my defence, the bullet is actually supposed to be guided by the tracking devices on the target.
Thanks for reading and commenting! 🙂
I am not sure why I am able to get to you from someone else’s site but not my own. I read both of these pieces and enjoyed them.
Thank you for visiting me.
Thank you for dropping by my place!
I read both of the above stories. Have to say the second one was my favorite, because I love the genre.
The first one needed more background for me to get more involved. But that’s just me.
Good job on both!
